Tyler Hadley of Port St. Lucie, Fla. is charged with twin counts of first-degree murder in the deaths, which authorities say happened Saturday (7/16/11). He is being held without bond at a juvenile detention center.

The parents – Blake and Mary-Jo Hadley – were believed to have been struck with the hammer in their heads and torsos sometime after their son posted on Facebook around 1:15 p.m. Saturday alerting friends to an evening party at his house.

Investigators believe the parents were attacked outside their master bedroom and the bodies were moved into the bedroom and the door locked.

As many as 60 people attended the party that night, according to Port St. Lucie Police.

My guess is, when he told his parents he was throwing a party, after he posted it facebook, they had objections ....... so he killed them. After all, he couldn't afford to disapoint all his friends

I suspect you are right. I was going to say you hit the nail on the head, but, well... considering the weapon used in the homicide, um...

Seriously, we really do live in a world of narcissistic lunatics. The "me" generation. It is all about "me."

I hope they throw the book at this @!$%#, but we know how juries in Florida look at "evidence." They'll find a way to acquit this little creep.

Narcissistic sociopaths/psychopaths are in abundance these days. It is so sad when a human will be so locked up in their needs and greed they will resort to murder. This child's life is over at his own hands. There will be no sympathy for his plight.

It certainly seems that way.

If the lawyers do not try to go for a "innocent by way of mental illness" ruling I would be very surprised.

#2.3: See follow up story

This story made it all the way to our local news broadcast last night. Not a lot of detail, but enough... this kid's attitude and behavior are a symptom of something insidious pervading our society. Instant gratification has taken over people's impulse control and otherwise-decent people are becoming homicidal if they cannot have what they want when they want it. Toss into the stew the mixed signals people seem to be sending, and the recipe is for violence. It is truly frightening.

I don't think so. There are no reports as to whether he confessed to the police, but he may have.

The Huffpost posted a follow-up story today (7/19/11) In it they say;

Hadley is being charged as an adult in his parents' killings. While he currently is charged with second-degree murder, Bakkedahl said it's all but certain a grand jury will indict him on more serious charges.

He will not face the death penalty if convicted because of his age.

The party went on as planned, with as many as 60 guests having such a raucous time that police were called with a noise complaint. They arrived at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, but the party was already breaking up.

Then, tipped off that a murder may have taken place, they returned to the home at about 4:24 a.m. Hadley was seen pacing inside a front bay window, police said, and when he finally answered the door he appeared nervous.

The question I have is who called in the tip? The kid is the only one that knew what he did, unless he told someone about it.

Not necessarily. If there were 60 guests at that party, isn't it at least possible that a guest opened the wrong door while looking for the bathroom?
