Authorities say the body of an 11-year-old New Hampshire girl who disappeared nearly a week ago has been found in a river less than half a mile from her home.

Divers found Celina Cass's body Monday morning near a hydroelectric dam that spans the Connecticut River between her hometown of Stewartstown, N.H., and Canaan, Vt.

Prosecutor Jane Young confirmed the identity at a news conference Monday night.

The discovery followed nearly a week of intense searching that attracted more than 100 federal, state and local law enforcement officers to the town of 800 residents a mile from the Canadian border.

Cass was last seen alive in her home on July 25. Young says her death is considered suspicious.

This is really disappointing news. I was hoping (although not really believing) she was a runaway.

Judging from the picture used in the article, I have a strong suspicion that she was being cyber-bullied, and decided to jump in the river as a result.

What a shame, she was really a pretty girl, as you can see from the alternative photo I used for this seed. However, hte photo somehow seemed to depict a haunting quality about Celina Cass, that hinted she may have been troubled and unhappy.

i hate to think of it being a suicide having survived a family members suicide last year. so much more painful in my opinion than your basic murder. it is such a shame i agree, she did look very unhappy in that photo. so sad.

I saw the video clip of the stepfather going to his knees and then face down
like he was severely upset, maybe, but just one problem. If he was so upset,
that he went down like that, how did he have the clarity to remove his ball cap
BEFORE it contacted the ground under him? It struck me as immediately
suspicious. Maybe there is something to this, maybe not. But I saw a relative
acting strange, when there was a questionable shooting involved. This happened
back in the 80's. To my knowledge, the shooting was never solved. Sorry, but I
am highly suspicious of the stepfather.
