Des Moines City Council members on Monday will be asked to approve a $500,000 settlement to end a lawsuit filed by two people who alleged they were assaulted by police during a 2008 traffic stop.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court more than two years ago based on claims of excessive force by former police officers Mersed Dautovic and John Mailander.City-paid lawyers for the former officers tried last February to have the lawsuit dismissed. A judge denied the lawyers' request. Read more;
