William Hurlbut, 29, a former police officer was sentenced Friday in federal court to 20 years in prison for producing child pornography after he admitted using his iPhone to film sex acts with an 8-year-old boy when the child was sleeping or unconscious.

Hurlbut is a former police officer for Aquia Harbour and had used the department’s Internet connection to share child pornography, according to court records. The state-certified department serves a gated community in Stafford County.

The file sharing attracted the attention of investigators in June 2010, court documents show, and a later search of Hurlbut’s home uncovered more than 1,000 images and more than 1,000 videos of child pornography including those with the 8-year-old boy, according to court papers.

So much for the peace and security of a gated community.

May I please stress that he was a "former" Police Officer. and the fact that he used the departments computers to access these cites is the departments fault.

At our department, we have personall that monitor the on-line activity of departments computers. I know that not all departments have this, but this should be a lesson as to why they need to have it in place.'

Because of the monitoring, we actually had two Officers repremanded, along with an IA investigation put in their jacket and both received one month un-paid suspension for accessing pornographic sites.

Well it shows that the GRAY matter can determine that one thing is so important that THROWING away everything can seem worth it.

its bad because he has the cop tag, but just like any one in society with these SICK issues, they all throw it away for this obsession.

it doesnt make sense to me, it never will and they test my oath almost every time i have to deal with em, because they really think they only effect themselves and not the children they just RUINED. grrrrr
