After a substitute teacher overheard 9-year-old Emanyea tell another student what he thought about a teacher, it resulted in school officials putting him on a two-day suspension for sexual harassment.

The boy's mother, Chiquita Lockett, told the station she doesn't agree with the punishment.

"It's not like he went up to the woman and tried to grab her or touch her in a sexual way," Lockett told WSOC TV. "So why would he be suspended for two days?" Find out why.

I thought it was THE four letter c-word he called her. Cute? Suspending a child for thinking his teacher was cute? Dumb.

Yes. Definitely.

Well, most of them anyway.

P.S: I have spent a few years as an elementary school teacher in a school in 2 different "educationally challenged" school districts (at different times). When I first started i was constantly shocked by the widespread stupidity of much of the staff. Most people I have met who have never worked in a school don't have the slightest idea of the sort of nonsense that routinely goes on in many public schools.

I wonder what would have happened if instead of calling her "cute" he had called her "ugly"?

When I was in sixth grade, my Home Ec teacher was a Redskinette.

She wasn't cute, she was smokin' - serious, men's magazine-caliber physical beauty (as well as being one of the nicest teachers I remember, but I'm sure my rememberences are less than fully unbiased). We were 12. Damn the torpedoes, puberty was upon us - Full Speed Ahead!

If school systems could read minds and base absurd bull@!$%# like this on such thoughts, I'm sure she would have never been able to have any male students...which would be a shame, since I learned a lot in that class.

Welcome to the world, folks. Men and women are different - even 4th graders know this.

The school's code of conduct doesn't list sexual harassment...

Dumbasses...

Jerry____What is the problem with these people suspending this child over calling his teacher a four letter word? If they are going to suspend kids for doing that well pretty soon they won't have anymore kids to suspend. I use to call my teachers a four letter word "DUMB". And I never got suspended because they all were dumb. I feel sorry for kids now a days because they have to cope with people changing the rules and the law every two minutes it seems. God bless his soul. And you teachers ought to grow up/because sticks & stones may break your bones, but words can never hurt you. A saying I'm sure a lot of us heard growing up.

Maria, read the article .... the "four letter word he called her was "cute". even if he called her "ugly", it would not warrant suspension, because he did not say it to her face but simply was expressing his opinon to another student regarding her looks.

So, uh...well...how dare you seed this without finding a pic of said teacher, so we can make an informed decision as to whether he was right or not? :)

This is one of a never ending string of evidence leading the average citizen to the conclusion that the public school system as it stands today needs to be reformed. It is a costly affair and the resulting product is poor at best for the amount of money spent.

The teachers' unions will never allow it.

I personally think that our country has lost out on our monopoly of good schools. When we have tied our teacher's hands so many different ways that they can't even sneeze without getting sued for infecting their students. What can you expect.

As for the kid who kicked his classmate in the groin: What is there to investigate? Are they going to spend several thousand dollars on some psyco-annalist to find out if he is a pervert?

As for the kid who said his teacher is 'cute': Are we going to suspend the intertainment world for giving him the concept in the first place?

These teachers are the product of the next generation from the ones who could not be failed. What do you expect. I bet they can't spell either.

1984. It was a damned fine year.

lmao...shocking how far we've regressed as a collective consciousness in 27 short years...:)

In 2009 it was named the 36th best hard rock song of all time by VH1
